Mauritius Equity Watch | 6 July 2015: Mauritius equity market opens in mixed feelings, adds MUR 26 million, SEMDEX 0.01% up, SEM10 3bps down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets opened the week on mixed feelings. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) slightly rose by 0.01 percent or 0.23 points to close 1,964.65 points and the SEM10 index narrowly fell 0.03 percent or 0.12 points to end at 373.72 points.
The market capitalization added MUR 26 million to settle at MUR 218.425 billion (as against MUR 218.399 billion recorded at yesterday’s trading session). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 2.312 million with total valued traded at MUR 22.076 million, higher than previous trading session figures.
The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited by exchanging 1.982 million stocks valued at MUR 1.764 million and MCB Group registered 65,110 securities with MUR 13.836 million. LUX ISLAND RESORT Mauritius had 53,278 traded stocks at MUR 3.343 million and POLICY Limited ended with a total volume of 43,200 at MUR 303,516.
The market sentiment/breath was positive, with 5 price gainers and 3 price losers. SMB Holdings was the biggest loser, by losing about 1.12 percent to close at MUR 0.88. Other two losers today were, SUN RESORT Mauritius (-0.90 percent at MUR 44.00) and POLICY Mauritius (-0.28 percent at MUR 7.18).
On the gainers’ region, Air Mauritius surged by 7.84 percent to trade at MUR 11.00 and ALTEO Limited climbed by 1.59 percent to trade at MUR 32.00. Also, LOTTOTECH Limited added 1.57 percent to close at MUR 5.18 and CIEL Limited went up by 0.85 percent to close at MUR 7.16. Also, VIVO Energy, closed at MUR 122, after gaining 0.83 percent.
The DEMEX index ended in red, by losing 0.46 percent or 0.95 points to close at 206.78 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.144 billion, by losing MUR 226 million from MUR 49.369 million recorded at previous trading session. Total value traded was MUR 7.443 million exchanged in 198,080 traded securities. FIDES added by 1.37 percent to trade at MUR 74.00 and ENL Limited (P) closed at MUR 30.00, by gaining 1.35 percent. On the other hand, ASCENCIA CLASS A and EUDCOS slumped by 4.68 percent to close at MUR 13.25 and 3.10 percent to end at MUR 14.05 respectively.
